Step N is a move to earn game so to play this game you have to walk, run or jog. Yes you will earn rewards and crypto by walking, running or jogging but your earning is dependent on other factors too which we are going to discuss below.

To begin with, you must first acquire a virtual pair of sneakers. Yes, you can wear these on top of your regular sneakers. Because these are newly minted NFTs, you can also resell them and possibly profit enough to purchase a much better pair. Each pair is similar to a 2 Dimensional Pokémon, with its own set of rarity and stats. The statistics dictate how long you can walk or run before the energy depletes. They may also provide you a speed bonus, allowing you to earn more tokens in the shape of GST while on the road.
Purchasing sneakers should be simple if you have Solana tokens in your wallet. If not, you can purchase from any reputable exchange.
In addition, the game itself allows you to import it & spend it in-game, however creating a new STEPN wallet and transferring your SOL to it is recommended.
It's worth noting that you'll have to spend your SOL on the market, but you'll earn GMT or GST while playing.
Price Of Sneakers vs Quality
One characteristic of the STEPN is that product pricing do not always shows their quality. You might find a pair of Common sneakers with average stats for 9.0 Solana and another pair with poorer numbers for 1500 SOL. Hopefully this problem will be addressed soon by the game founders.
Shoe Minting:
One of the coolest features of Step N is shoe minting. Its similar to what we call breeding in other NFT games.
Shoe-Minting Event (SME) occurs when people use two Sneakers they already own as a blueprint to "breed," resulting in the creation of a Shoebox. The two sneakers will be referred to as Vintages (Parents). To start a SME, both Vintages must be in the user's custody (not leased) and have full durability.

Marathon mode
StepN Solo Mode:Users in Solo Mode are given NFT Sneakers and must move in order to earn tokens. Earning Green Satoshi Tokens necessitates the expenditure of energy (GST). Every 1 Energy equals 5 minutes of movement, with energy recharging only once users purchase an NFT Sneaker. To begin, player must first choose a sneaker and then tap Start. On the top of the screen, users should see either walking or running as a status.
Marathon Mode (Coming Soon)
Users must register under the “Marathon Tab” atleast 24 hours prior to the start of the marathon. Weekly and monthly marathons will both take place.
STEPN Earnings
While you need sneakers to begin earning, you will not require buying anything to begin jogging.New users can get a free trial of the app and all of its features. The earning meter will start filling up while you run if you're ready to commit and have some STEPN footwear.
But wait there's a catch and that is a daily restriction to how much you may run with the app, which means your profits are limited. This is called earning cap.
You get a small amount for free every day, plus some from your footwear, and it's called Energy. High-quality sneakers provide a lot of energy, but they're not for everyone. Normally you can run 100 minutes daily with your general energy. Of course you can always upgrade your sneakers in order to get more energy and ultimately more earnings.
Even if your energy runs out, you can keep running, but the earning meter will stop until the next day.
You must also keep up with a speed meter in order to continue earning. This is one of the most difficult components of the game, as it requires you to be in top physical condition on each run.
